RobinsonThe main reasons are that treatment in hospitals for the mentally subnormal does not involve so much medical and nursing time or such expensive drugs, medical and surgical appliances and equipment as treatment in other types of hospital. Also, subnormality hospitals use, as required, many of the services of specialised departments of general hospitals.
