Mr. John Hallasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that in the wine and spirit trade duty has to be paid on withdrawal from bond after which the wines have to be treated, bottled and passed through the whole system of distribution before reaching the customer, with the result that the cost of the duty may have to be financed for six months or more before being paid by the customer; and whether, in view of the high cost involved, with duties and Bank 52W Rate at their present level, he will arrange for some credit period for payment of duty to Her Majesty's Customs.
