The following information about Manchester schools was obtained from the survey of school buildings carried out in 1962:
Number of schools: with sanitation mainly out of doors … 151 with no hall* … 40 built before 1918 … 205 * Primary schools with less than 100 pupils are not required by the Department's Regulations to have a hall. No information was obtained about gymnasia.
