HC Deb 04 June 1965 vol 713 c292W
Mr. Rankin

asked the Minister of Labour on how many occasions during the past five years he has been called upon to intervene in disputes between employers and employees and has done so despite the fact that one of the parties has not abandoned its original demands.

Mr. Gunter

This information is not available. My Department has conciliated in about 1,750 disputes during the years 1960 to 1964. When such conciliation action starts it is frequently the case that one of the parties to the dispute has not abandoned its original demands.
