HC Deb 03 June 1965 vol 713 c259W
65. Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Minister of Labour how many unskilled workers have been permitted to enter the United Kingdom in search of employment in the last three calendar months; and if he will give the figures for the comparable three months of 1964.

Mr. Gunter

The statistics of voucher holders actually entering the country do not distinguish between those persons coming to a particular job and those coming to look for work. No fresh C Vouchers (which would enable an unskilled Commonwealth worker to enter this country in search of employment) have been issued in the last three months. Between 28th February and 29th May, 1964, 864 C Vouchers were issued.

In the case of aliens the answer is nil, both for this year and 1964. Aliens must have a job to come to and are not allowed to enter this country to look for work.
