HC Deb 02 June 1965 vol 713 cc232-3W
Mr. Coleman

asked the Postmaster-General if he will cause an inquiry to be made by his engineers as to the number of households in the Neath constituency who are unable to receive television, other than by wire, because they are in a shadow area; and if he will place the results in the Library.

Mr. Joseph Slater

No. It is, of course, for the broadcasting authorities in the first place to consider what measures to take in order to improve the reception and extend the coverage of their services, and the assessment of reception conditions in particular localities is normally carried out by them.

I understand that the B.B.C. have studied reception conditions in Neath; and the I.T.A. in the Swansea-Neath area. Both authorities will, I am sure, be glad to discuss with my hon. Friend reception difficulties in this area.
