asked the Prime Minister if he will discuss with the Commonwealth Prime Ministers the safeguards he has in mind to protect the trade and other interests of all Commonwealth countries in the light of his current proposals for greater European unity.

Agendas for meetings of Commonwealth Prime Ministers are confidential. It is, of course, the practice to keep our Commonwealth partners informed of all proposals affecting Commonwealth trade. I have repeatedly made it clear that the safeguarding of essential British and Commonwealth interests is, under this Government, fundamental to our policy.
