Mr. Graham Pageasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what work, at present undertaken by Government Departments in London, will be transferred to Merseyside, to provide employment for civil servants who were recruited there for work previously transferred from London but who will shortly become redundant by reason of their work being taken over by computer.

§ 61. Mr. Hefferasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps are being taken to ensure that alternative work is taken to Liverpool to absorb those staff made redundant when the automatic data processing system is introduced in the Ministry of Aviation, Liverpool.
§ Mr. MacDermotThe Government will bear in mind the needs of Merseyside in dispersing Government work from London. Only last week the Postmaster-General indicated Merseyside as a suitable site for a Giro office.
