HC Deb 22 July 1965 vol 716 cc267-8W
Mr. Wall

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimate of private investment in developing countries of the Commonwealth and developing non-Commonwealth countries, respectively, for the financial years 1964–65, 1965–66 and 1966–67.

Mr. MacDermot

Total private investment in developing countries by the United Kingdom in 1964, net of disinvestment, is provisionally estimated as £75 million, subject to a margin of error of plus or minus £15 million. Detailed figures are not yet available but it is estimated that just under half of this investment was in developing Commonwealth countries and just over half in developing non-Commonwealth countries.

Estimates for the financial year 1964–65 and forecasts for the financial years 1965–66 and 1966–67 are not available.
