§ Mr. Newensasked the Secretary of of State for Education and Science if he will now make a statement on the establishment of a commission to integrate the public schools into the State system of education.
§ Mr. CroslandMy preparations for setting up a Public Schools Commission to advise on the best way of integrating the public schools into the State system of education have reached an advanced stage. Meanwhile Dr. Royston Lambert has just published some preliminary findings of his research project (which is financed by my Department) into the wider aspects of boarding education in both the private and the state sectors. I shall now study these findings which clearly may have a bearing on the appropriate terms of reference of the Commission. I expect to establish the Commission in the next session of Parliament.
