Mr. Mappasked the Postmaster-General if he will institute a study, or indicate what estimates are available, of the revenue that would arise if the British Broadcasting Corporation, in all its services, were enabled to accept commercial 234W advertising on a basis similar to the independent television service.
§ Mr. BennI would refer my hon. Friend to the statement I made to the House on 14th April in which I announced that the Government would be giving further study to the problem of broadcasting finance. The suggestion made by my hon. Friend in the debate on 13th May that the B.B.C. should be partly financed from advertising revenue is one of several quite different suggestions which have been put to the Government in the course of this study.
