§ 40. Mr. Longdenasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the pensions of retired male nurses who accept part-time employment in Government service 8W are liable to be proportionately reduced, whereas if they choose part-time employment elsewhere they may draw their pensions in full; and if he will abolish this earnings rule so as to encourage such nurses to remain in employment after they have reached the retirement age of 55.
§ Mr. K. RobinsonA provision for abatement of pensions on re-employment is a normal condition of public service pension schemes and I have no proposals for changing in the case of male nurses the requirements of the National Health Service (Superannuation) Regulations.
