§ Mr. Kitsonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government why he has granted planning permission for a filling station on the A.1 in the North Riding of York at a distance of 1½ miles from another station, when the Circular 25/58 advises a distance of 12 miles between such stations.
§ Mr. MacCollIn dismissing the appeal for a filling station on the A.1 by the22W Windmill Café, Rainton, my right hon. Friend indicated that this was without prejudice to a revised application because it would have the special advantage that customers from the café would be able to refuel without stopping elsewhere. This overrode the advice in the Circular that normally a filling station should be unnecessary on a stretch of road less than 12 miles long.
