§ Mr. Cordleasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of the manufacture and sale to children of wheeled toys called skateboards, and of the fact that their use could result in children being killed; and whether he will, in the public interest, introduce legislation to prohibit their distribution.
§ Mr. George ThomasI understand from Press reports that in the United States of America several children have been knocked down and killed by motor vehicles while using skateboards on public roads. Skateboards are being manufactured and sold in this country, but I have no evidence which suggests that they are being misused in such a way as to300W justify their prohibition. My right hon. and learned Friend will, however, keep the matter under review.
