§ Mr. Oswaldasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement on the progress of the programme of hospital building in Scotland to the most recent convenient date.
§ Mr. RossDuring the six months period from 1st October, 1964 to 31st March, 1965, hospital capital works to the value of £2,940,000 were completed in Scotland; the new facilities provided included 260 beds, four out-patient departments and four physiotherapy departments. Schemes in progress at the end of March, 1965, were estimated to cost £32,303,000 and to provide 3,439 beds.
229WThe schemes completed in this period included a child psychiatry in-patient unit at the Royal Aberdeen Hospital for Sick Children, a major extension to the Royal Edinburgh Hospital and a new hospital at Portree in Skye. Those started during the period include a new maternity and physiotherapy department (£117,000) at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Dingwall, a new maternity unit (£64,000) at the Balfour Hospital, Kirkwall, twin operating theatres (£75,000) at Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital, a 72-bed pavilion (£193,000) at Murray Royal Hospital, Perth, and three ward blocks (£261,200) at the Royal Scottish National Hospital, Larbert.
