§ Mrs. McKayasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what steps he is taking to encourage the London boroughs to make better provision for public recreation and leisure-time activities in their respective areas.
§ Mr. MellishThe London Borough Councils are, I believe, all aware that any schemes for these purposes which they may have occasion to put forward to my right hon. Friend will be sympathetically considered. In circulars which the Ministry has issued jointly with the Department of Education and Science local authorities have recently been encouraged to provide facilities for sport and the arts. I am arranging to send copies of the circulars to my hon. Friend.
