HC Deb 22 January 1965 vol 705 c133W
Mr. Stainton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give details of the National Agricultural Advisory Service estimates of the receipts per acre from cucumber growing in 1964 against 1963; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Hoy

The National Agricultural Advisory Service does not make any official estimates of growers' receipts. I understand, however, that the Economists' estimates, when available, are likely to show some decline in 1964 compared with 1963. It is normal for receipts to fluctuate from year to year; thus the average receipts from cucumbers grown on horticultural holdings in England and Wales were greater in 1963 by about £1,350 per acre than they were in 1962.

Mr. Stainton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what proportions

Year "A" level Candidates Total number of "A" level passes Number of pupils passing in two or more subjects
Wandsworth Grammar School 1954–55 24 34 9
Wandsworth Comprehensive School 1963–64 80 125 40
Year "O" level Candidates Total number of "O" level passes Number of pupils passing in five or more subjects
Wandsworth Grammar School 1954–55 102 197 8
Wandsworth Comprehensive School 1963–64 386 717 49
Year Number of University places gained
Wandsworth Grammar School 1954–55 10
Wandsworth Comprehensive School 1963–64 24

Examination results are only one index of a school's success and I believe that this school, which I have had the pleasure of visiting recently, is also doing a very good job in many other ways.
