70. Mr. Edward M. Taylorasked the Postmaster-General what progress has been made by his Department towards increased efficiency by reducing the time and effort expended by postmen on mail deliveries, particularly in relation to deliveries to multi-storey commercial and residential buildings.
§ Mr. BennMotor vans, cycles and electrically propelled handcarts are of course used where they help to increase efficiency. With regard to multi-storey buildings, a number of local authorities and other developers are helping us by providing a mail room or letter boxes near to the entrances. We have been doing a good deal to encourage this kind of thing; but I am now considering how we could do more.
