§ 81. Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government, what special measures are being taken by the Government and local authorities, and what financial and other support they are giving private bodies, to house the homeless.
§ Mr. MellishThe best way of helping the homeless is by increasing the present inadequate housebuilding by local authorities. The Government intend to bring this about. We shall also help housing associations which provide housing for the homeless by encouraging local authorities to make loans and grants and by paying Exchequer subsidy on new buildings.
