§ 7. Mr. Shinwellasked the President of the Board of Trade what decision he has reached as a result of his visit to the North-East on the need for industrial development in that area; and what action he intends to take.
§ Mr. JayI was much impressed by the progress being made in the North-East and particularly by the large amount of industrial building now taking place or planned. But a great deal more needs to be done. I shall continue with all the means at my disposal to encourage new industry to set up in the area.
