§ 52. Mr. Hoggasked the Minister of Technology whether he will make a statement on his policy towards the electronics industry; and what aid his Department gives to research and development in it.
§ Mr. CousinsI am concerned to see that the electronics industry plays its full part in promoting technological advance generally. As its sponsor Department my Ministry has also a special duty to foster its economic wellbeing and efficiency. Statutory powers to enable my Ministry to give aid to research and development in industry are included in the Science and Technology Bill and I shall use these powers to further the objectives I have mentioned.
