§ Commander Courtneyasked the Secretary of State for Defence if, in view of the difficulties experienced in reconciling land, sea, air and amphibious requirements in the development of a 161W common Service aircraft, he will consider the appointment of suitably qualified representatives of the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Marines to the Air Staff.
§ Mr. HealeyMachinery already exists for the scrutiny of operational requirements on a defence basis and for their harmonisation wherever possible. This is one of the functions of the Defence Operational Requirements Staff, which works under the Operational Requirements Committee and which, as explained in Command 2097, has been set up as part of the reconstituted Ministry of Defence.
