HC Deb 10 February 1965 vol 706 cc108-9W
Sir T. Beamish

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the letters dated 14th January and 1st February received from the Sussex Association of Building Inspectors and Surveyors, together with the replies he has sent; and when it is proposed to lay before Parliament the draft regulations to standardise building byelaws throughout England and Wales.

Mr. C. Pannell

I am sending the hon. Member copies of the letter of 14th January received from the Sussex Association of Building Inspectors and Surveyors, of the reply sent from this Department on 18th January, and of a further letter received from the Association dated 1st February.

In order to allow designers, builders and those responsible for enforcing building regulations to familiarise themselves with the regulations I propose to allow an interval of about six months between the time when they are published and their coming into operation. I also propose to publish explanatory material.

I hope to make the regulations and lay them before Parliament during the summer.
