Mr. Gowerasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware of unsatisfactory television reception of British Broadcasting Corporation and Independent Television Authority channels in various parts of Wales; and what steps are to be taken during the next 12 months to improve reception in such areas.
§ Mr. Joseph SlaterThe B.B.C. expects to open stations at Carmarthen in March, at Machynlleth in May, and at Moel-y-Parc in the summer of this year; at Cardigan, Dolgellau, Llangollen and Llanidloes during 1966; and is considering which other areas to include in a further stage of its plan to improve and extend its service. The I.T.A.'s second transmitter at St. Hilary, which is intended to broadcast a Welsh edition of independent television, is expected to come into regular service at the beginning of next week.
