HC Deb 09 February 1965 vol 706 c54W
55. Mr. Gower

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware of unsatisfactory television reception of British Broadcasting Corporation and Independent Television Authority channels in various parts of Wales; and what steps are to be taken during the next 12 months to improve reception in such areas.

Mr. Joseph Slater

The B.B.C. expects to open stations at Carmarthen in March, at Machynlleth in May, and at Moel-y-Parc in the summer of this year; at Cardigan, Dolgellau, Llangollen and Llanidloes during 1966; and is considering which other areas to include in a further stage of its plan to improve and extend its service. The I.T.A.'s second transmitter at St. Hilary, which is intended to broadcast a Welsh edition of independent television, is expected to come into regular service at the beginning of next week.
