HC Deb 09 February 1965 vol 706 c62W
70. Sir Knox Cunningham

asked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs whether he will give an assurance that the factory of Messrs. Short Brothers and Harland, Belfast, will not be under-used or their workpeople left without jobs; and what plans Her Majesty's Government has to maintain the present level of employment in Messrs. Short Brothers and Harland until at least 1970.

Mr. George Brown

As I announced on 2nd February, a comprehensive review is being made of the company's potential, which will include an examination of the scope for using its resources in other fields. The Department's Chief Industrial Adviser is visiting Belfast next week to discuss the situation with the company with whom we are in close touch.
