I cannot say how many dwellings provided with the amenities mentioned were owner-occupied or let; but of all standard grants to private owners in each of the four quarters, 73 per cent., 70 per cent., 76 per cent. and 74 per cent., respectively were for owner-occupied houses.

§ Mr. CrossmanI am urgently considering with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Public Building and Works 59W how best to encourage a much greater use of industrialised methods in house-building. The greatest incentive of course is the big contribution which this would make to increasing housing output, and therefore to the speedier relief of local housing shortages. I hope to make a further announcement before long.
