§ Mr. Brewisasked the Prime Minister whether he will give a list of all Government Departments and other Government agencies which are required to devote a substantial part of their time to economic and social problems in the Highlands.
§ The Prime MinisterAll four Departments of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland devote a substantial part of their time to the Highlands. In addition, most United Kingdom and Great Britain departments have some responsibilities in the Highlands.
The following Government agencies and grant aided bodies are also concerned with the Highlands: Forestry Commission, Crofters Commission, Red Deer Commision, Herring Industry Board, White Fish Authority, North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board, the transport undertakings which operate in the area, the Northern, North-Eastern and Western Regional Hospital Boards, the North of Scotland and West of Scotland Colleges of Agriculture, Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society Limited, Scottish Country Industries Development Trust, Scottish Council of Social Service, Scottish Council of Physical Recreation, Highland Home Industries, Highland Fund Limited.
