HC Deb 09 February 1965 vol 706 c52W
48. Mr. Fisher

asked the Minister of Overseas Developmen what additional economists recruited from outside the Civil Service have joined her Department since 15th October, 1964; how many; at what salaries; and with what duties.

Mrs. Castle

Three economists have so far been recruited to my Economic Planning Staff from outside the Civil Service. They are the Director-General of Economic Planning (salary £6,500), his Deputy (salary £5,250), and the Head of the World Economy Division (salary £4,500). The duties of the Economic Planning Staff are to assist in the planning and co-ordination of our aid to overseas countries to ensure its maximum effectiveness.
