asked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what response he has had from private industry following his recent appeal for price restraint.

A number of trading organisations have made public their intention, even at some cost to themselves, of keeping their prices stable. I hope others will follow this lead and that manufacturers and traders generally will recognise the importance in the national interest of price restraint.
