asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science by what method appointments are made to Her Majesty's Inspectorate for Education; and whether vacancies for such appointments are advertised in the educational Press.

Mr. Crosland

Her Majesty's Inspectors of Schools are appointed by Her Majesty the Queen in Council on the recommendation of the Secretary of State for Education and Science in accordance with Section 77(2) of the Education Act, 1944. Vacancies are advertised in the educational Press as well as in other newspapers.
