HL Deb 02 February 1965 vol 262 cc1147-8WA
LORD MANCROFT

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether in view of the probability of the abolition of Capital Punishment they will re-examine the statistics applicable to crimes committed since 1957 with illegally-owned firearms and consider the need for a complete revision of the regulations governing their possession.

LORD STONHAM

The Government are examining the adequacy of the present legislation affecting firearms as a matter of urgency, and chief officers of police are being consulted. I hope to be able to make a further statement at an early date.
