§ Mr. Atkinsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will introduce legislation to amend Section 39 (5) of the Education Act, 1944, so as to permit local education authorities to provide free transport to pupils under eight years of age living more than one mile and pupils over eight years of age more than two miles from their school instead of two and three miles, respectively, as at present.
