Friend expects to be intensified as a result of the measures which he announced on 7th December.
§ Mr. Costainasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether for the benefit of local authorities who have to build high-rise flats, he will name the industrialised building systems which can be erected at the same cost per floor as a six-storey block of flats.
§ Mr. MellishNo. The cost of using any particular system on a particular site depends on a number of variables, including the mix of different building-types, and advice covering this aspect 461W and other aspects of the choice of a system is best given to the individual local authority in relation to the individual site. Average figures for tenders approved last year do not suggest that the cost per square foot rises with increase in building height above 6 storeys.
