§ Mr. McLeavyasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to stimulate the export of British wool cloth to the United States of America in consequence of the new requirement in the United States labelling regulations with effect from 20th November, 1965, that when a wool product is marked as imported the country of origin of the fabric has to be indicated.
§ Mr. JayTo make the most of the opportunity offered by the new United States regulations, the National Wool Textile Export Corporation has stepped434W up its promotion and publicity campaign in the U.S.A. and my Department proposes to make a grant-in-aid of up to £50,000 to the Corporation in 1965–66 towards the cost of the campaign, subject to an equivalent amount being allocated by the Corporation for this purpose out of the proceeds of the statutory Wool Textile Industry Export Promotion Levy. A Supplementary Estimate will be submitted for the grant-in-aid in due course. In the meantime, advances will be made as necessary from the Civil Contingencies Fund.
