§ Mr. Joplingasked the Minister of Transport whether he will take steps to empower the police to prohibit the use by all vehicles, or by selected vehicles such as articulated lorries, of certain stretches of road which are affected by snow, where their passage is likely to result in skidding or jack-knifing, thereby blocking the road and hampering clearing operations.
§ Mr. Tom FraserThe police are already empowered by the Road Traffic Acts to prohibit or restrict vehicles in such circumstances and I do not consider that any additional powers are necessary.
