§ Mr. WilleyI have appointed an independent committee under the Chairmanship of Professor Thorpe of Birmingham University to review general policy on allotments in the light of present-day conditions in England and Wales. The Committee will be considering the social, economic, recreational, legal, planning and landscape aspects of allotments. When I receive its recommendations I shall decide whether new legislation is needed. Meanwhile I shall continue to carry out my functions under the present Allotments Acts.
