§ Mr. Cooperasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give the total cost for management and service of the National Debt for the financial years 1963–64 and 1964–65, and the estimated cost for 1965–66.
§ Mr. MacDermotThe gross cost of management and service of the National Debt was £1,086.7 million and £1,107.9 million for the financial years 1963–64 and 1964–65 respectively. The Budget estimate for the financial year 1965–66 was £1,218 million. These figures are for the total cost of interest, management, expenses (mainly Premium Savings Bond Prize money) and Sinking Funds.
