§ Mr. Pounderasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the average weekly cost of keeping and maintaining a person in prison, including the cost of food and the apportionment of the salaries of prison staff, for the years ended 31st March, 1964 and 31st March, 1965, respectively.
§ Miss BaconThe average weekly cost of maintaining a person in prison during the year ended 31st March, 1964, was estimated to have been £11 4s. 7d. I regret that the figures for 1964–65 are not yet available.
