§ Sir F. SoskiceApart from the operation of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme, an award to the widow of a prison officer killed as the result of an attack by inmates in the course of the officer's duty is governed by the provisions of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act 1965, and the Superannuation Act, 1965, including the Injury Warrants 1952–1965. The Prison Officers' Association has recently submitted proposals for a review of certain aspects of these arrangements and these are receiving careful consideration.
