HC Deb 09 December 1965 vol 722 c156W
80. Mr. John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations, what is the range by night and by day of the transmitter now being erected in Bechuanaland for the purpose of relaying broadcasts to Rhodesia.

Mr. Bottomley

The medium-wave transmitter will have a range of about 110 miles in daylight and 500–600 at night. The short-wave transmitter will have a range in excess of 500 miles by day or night. These figures relate to audibility by ordinary transistor sets but reception will of course be affected at times by atmospheric interference.
