Mr. Webster

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he is taking to implement Recommendation 126 of the Assembly of the Western European Union on the political future of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, urging the Governments to develop, within the North Atlantic Council, effective political consultation on world affairs.

Mr. Padley

This Recommendation has still to be considered by the Council of Western European Union, where the Government will discuss it with their allies.

Mr. Webster

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he is taking to implement Recommendation 127 of the Assembly of the Western European Union on the state of European security, containing a number of proposals for improving the organisation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and strengthening security in Europe.
