HC Deb 09 December 1965 vol 722 cc164-6W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what increase or decrease there was in the staff of the Department under his control in the period 16th October, 1964 to 15th October, 1965; and what increase or decrease he anticipates in the period up to 15th October, 1966.

Mr. MacDermot

The number of staff employed in the Treasury rose by 89 between October, 1964 and October, 1965. Allowing for alterations resulting from transfers of work the net increase was 35. The number of staff likely to be in post in October, 1966 will depend on decisions which are still being considered in connection with the 1966–67 Estimates.
