HC Deb 09 December 1965 vol 722 cc143-4W
69. Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will publish in HANSARD a table showing the approximate percentages of the adult and juvenile inhabitants of Mauritius who are chronically unemployed, the number of school-leavers in each of the last ten years, and the approximate percentage of these who have found regular employment within a year of leaving school.

Mr. Greenwood

There is no compulsory unemployment registration in Mauritius and it is therefore not possible to give the percentages of chronically unemployed. The following table shows the number of school leavers in each of the last ten years. I regret that the approximate percentage of these who found regular employment within a year of leaving school is not known.
