HC Deb 09 December 1965 vol 722 c159W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Minister of Labour what was the employment in the Scottish brick industry at the nearest convenient date; what was the employment on the same date last year; and what percentage change this represents.

Mr. Thornton

It is estimated that the number of employees in employment in brick, fireclay and refractory goods manufacture in Scotland was 8,700 at mid-1964 and was the same at mid-1963. Mid-1964 is the most recent date for which figures are available. Estimates are not available for the brick industry alone.
