§ Mr. Alasdair Mackenzieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland, if he is aware that the Station Hotel, Alness, which is under State control, has been closed for the winter months at short notice; and, in view of the opposition to this action and as this is a development area, if he will arrange to have the hotel reopened.
§ Mr. RossThere are two State-managed hotels in the village of Alness. With the concurrence of my local advisory committee the hotel accommodation in the Station Hotel has been closed for the winter months because the requirements during the winter can be fully met at the Commercial Hotel. I have no reason to suppose that the service provided has been affected by the change, but I shall be glad to consider the position again in the light of experience.
