HC Deb 07 December 1965 vol 722 cc76-7W
70. Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Overseas Development to what extent she ensures that Colonial Governments in receipt of Colonial Development and Welfare grants devote them to the purchase of British-made equipment, where possible.

Mrs. Castle

Except for certain limited categories and provided the terms are reasonably competitive, Colonial Governments are required to buy from Britain all imported goods and services financed from Colonial Development and Welfare grants and loans.

Any applications for individual waivers of this rule are considered on their merits.
