Mr. Walden

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has yet received the Report of the Monopolies Commission on the merger of the British Motor Corporation and Pressed Steel; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jay

Yes. I received the Commission's Report on 26th November. Its conclusion is that this merger does not operate and may not be expected to operate against the public interest.

I accept this conclusion. I shall be laying the Commission's Report before Parliament and publishing it as soon as possible.
