§ Mr. George ThomasThe increases in the Carlisle district were necessitated by increases in costs since January, 1964, when the last price increase took effect, so far as these could not be absorbed by economies and improvements in efficiency. Any proposals for price increases in the future will, like the ones just made, be carefully scrutinised in the light of the Government's prices and incomes policy.
