§ Mr. Beaneyasked the Minister of Power how much was spent by the National Gas Council and the National 271W Coal Board on research into the production of gas from coal in 1964–65; and if he is satisfied that this expenditure is adequate, in view of the importance of this research to the national economy.
§ Mr. Frederick Lee£108,000 by the Gas Council. It is estimated that £22,000 will be spent in 1965 by the British Coal Utilisation Research Association on behalf of the National Coal Board and other sponsors. The answer to the last part of the Question is "Yes".
