Mr. Patrick Jenkinasked the Minister of Transport whether he will introduce legislation to provide for the payment of compensation in respect of property whose value is substantially depreciated by road building or other road improvement schemes in circumstances where no part of such property is actually acquired for the purpose of such schemes.
§ Mr. Tom FraserNo. It seems to me to be reasonable to apply the general law on compensation to the effects of road schemes and I am satisfied that special legislation for highways would not be justified.
